There will be days.

There will be days where
your alarm clock will buzz,
but it won't be enough to shake
one-am slumbers and
visions of hazy numbers on the
side of the cereal box.

There will be days where
school hits you like a brick wall
and your marks seem to fall faster than
your morning adrenaline.

(And obviously, this has nothing to do with the fact that
you've been skipping like a second grader across a
hopscotch in the schoolyard.)

And then there are the days where your
english notes turn into a doodle page,
and your science diagrams seem to phase
into notes that mean nothing,
and you want it to mean something,
but it all seems crazy,
and it's like there no way this day could
make sense at all.

Then later that day,
you'll come home to find your
morning cup of coffee
stone cold, forgotten, on the
kitchen table,
and then suddenly, you're able to remember
how yesterday
you knew how to
